Medical Emergencies
Please call 999 if a patient is unconscious or experiencing severe shortness of breath, chest pain or bleeding.
Welsh Language
Dr Siân Thomas, Dr Anna Auchterlonie and Dr Hayley Williams are among several of our GPs able to speak Welsh. Please notify our reception staff if you would like to see a Welsh speaking GP.
Parking
The limited free parking at Eglwysbach should be reserved for the elderly/disabled. There is a multi-storey car park opposite the surgery. There is no dedicated patient parking in Tonteg or Ynysybwl. Please be considerate when parking in the nearby streets.

Services
As well as the usual services expected of a modern practice, we offer:
Women’s Health
In addition to most forms of contraception including coils, implants, and injections; HRT and cervical cytology (smear tests).
Minor Surgery/Joint injections
Removal of benign skin lesions and joint injections, following consultation with a GP.
Child Health Surveillance
Provides monitoring of your child’s development together with our Health Visitors, as well as providing the recommended childhood vaccinations.
Chronic Disease Management
Run by our experienced practice nurses for regular checks if you have diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma, COPD or chronic kidney disease.
Repeat prescription reviews
Run by our clinical pharmacists to ensure that you are on the correct medications for your conditions, and that the appropriate monitoring is being undertaken.
Travel Medicine
We are a registered ‘yellow fever centre’ and offer a full range of travel advice and vaccinations.
Private Work
We undertake a range of medical reports e.g. insurance/ HGV/Taxi/Adoption medicals, which fall outside of NHS provision.
New Patients
We are pleased to accept new patients. If you live in our catchment area then you are able to register with us by calling into the surgery, telephoning or visiting our website to find out more.
Disabled Patients
Eglwysbach Surgery has ramped access to the ground floor and patient services are over two floors. Those with mobility difficulties are asked to discuss their requirements with staff. A portable loop is available for those with impaired hearing. The visually impaired are also encouraged to contact staff for additional help.
Unfortunately, there is limited disabled access in Tonteg Surgery so please make enquiries to find out more.
Ynysybwl Surgery has adequate disabled access.
Medical Education
As a training practice, we may have medical trainees & students. Please make staff aware if you would prefer for them not to be present during your consultation.
Repeat Prescriptions
These can be requested by using our website, visiting your designated chemist, or by handing in your repeat slip to the desk. Please allow 2 working days for repeat prescriptions to be ready.
Booking Appointments
We offer both pre-bookable and emergency, face-to-face and telephone consultations. Please see our website for more detail on arranging an appointment.
Home visits
These are available for patients who are clinically unable to attend surgery or those who are housebound. Please request before 10am.

Health Checks
If you are aged between 16yrs and 75yrs and you have not attended a consultation in the previous 3 years you are entitled to request a routine consultation for a general health check.
If you are aged 75 and over and you have not been seen within the last 12 months you can request a routine consultation for a general health check.
