Health Protection Wales have recently seen a significant increase in mumps notifications from Primary Care particularly in the Porth area. A proportion of those notified have not had the full course of two MMR's . The Practice would encourage all school age children and young people to contact the practice and arrange a vaccination if they have not had the full course.
As of January 2014 we are pleased to announce that we are now offering insertion and removal of Mirena and Copper coils and also contraceptive implants. These methods are among the most effective form of contraception on the market and are suitable for most women of all ages, even if you are a new or breastfeeding mum.
For more information or advice please book an appointment to see Dr Zoe Morris-Williams or Dr Sian Thomas. As of the 1st April 2014 we will no longer be able to offer our extended hours service. ( Tuesday and Wednesday early mornings). We appreciate that this will be seen as a reduction in flexibility to a service that has proved very popular for those with work or carer commitments.
The change is due to a reduction in funding for this service by the Local Health Board. Should you have any concerns, please contact Mrs Susan Davies, Practice Manager who will be pleased to discuss the matter further. A vaccine for shingles is now available on the NHS for people of certain ages. If you were born between 2/9/33 and 1/9/34 or between 2/9/42 and 1/9/43 you are eligible for the vaccine.
Please call the surgery to book an appointment as we now have the vaccine in stock. For more information about shingles, please use the following link. Shingles Leaflet |
