Please visit the website for our most recent newsletter on the news page, updated local activities in the patient resources section, and finally click here for a link to the 'Sheds' Project, who are currently running a survey on potential demand in the Taff Ely area (which covers our practice). Please see their website for further info about the activities and resources they offer.
Following on from previous updates, we can confirm that we will now be closing the building from 2pm for safety reasons, with more heavy snow forecast for this afternoon. We can continue to offer medical advice until 6.30pm, via our remote access to your medical records, and beyond that time and over the weekend, request that you contact Out of Hours, or NHS direct as usual.
We would like to thank all our patients for their understanding in the past few days, and would particularly like to highlight the efforts of our many staff who have walked/driven miles in the difficult conditions in order to provide continuity of care. Finally, we will try and keep you up to date regards services next week, so watch this space, and we will continue to do the best we can. Further to our update from earlier this morning, we are successfully managing to offer urgent medical advice to any patients who need it via telephone, so please contact the surgery on 406811 if you have any concerns.
Unfortunately Tonteg surgery remains closed, but any Tonteg patients can ring Eglwysbach where we can help with your queries. Also, we have had notice that the following chemists are open: Sheppards Rhydyfelin Sheppards Bridge Street Tonteg Well Cilfynydd Glycncoch Treforest We are fortunate to have admin staff who had made it in to the surgery. However, at present, it does not look likely any GPs can make it in despite multiple attempts at driving/obtaining 4x4 pickups etc. One intrepid Partner is currently hiking from Cardiff and we will update you if he manages to arrive.
But in the meantime, we are available for phone advice only. This may include provision of prescriptions but you would still need to be able to reach a chemist and we are yet to receive advice as to whether any are open. Please call 01443 406811 if you require more information, or to have a GP ring you back for phone advice as we have access to computer systems from home. Many apologies, but we hope you understand we are doing all that we can in this difficult situation. Please keep an eye on the website/facebook feed for further updates through the day. We are pleased to advise that both Eglwysbach and Tonteg surgeries are open today (1/3/18) as usual, so there is no need to contact us if you have a pre-booked appointment. Any necessary cancellations will be contacted individually by phone.
In respect of the recent ‘Red Weather Warning’ for the area over this afternoon and potentially into tomorrow, we do not anticipate being able to operate from both sites tomorrow, in which case Tonteg Surgery may need to be closed, so please contact our main surgery in Pontypridd on 01443 406811 before setting out to either branch. A GP is available this afternoon for assessment where required, though we ask you to be conscious of the potentially dangerous conditions outside, as per Welsh Government advice. However, keep monitoring our website and facebook for news updates, as we will continue to offer the best service we can in the circumstances. |
