See www.taffelycluster.com for more info on this, as well as a new link in the 'Choose Well' section that shows your local A+E department waiting times!
As mentioned previously, new updates regarding community resources, local activities and various help-groups etc will now be placed on our sister-site www.taffelycluster.com.
If you've not visited already, please bookmark for future reference, and click here to view July's updated local resource list.
Unfortunately due to necessary software upgrades all branches of Eglwysbach will be without computers from approx lunchtime on Tuesday until a similar time on the Wednesday.
This will mean we cannot generate repeat prescriptions, cannot see full medical histories or deal with test results etc. We apologise for this inconvenience and would ask that only genuine medical emergencies present in this period; we hope that we will be fully up and running as normal by Wednesday afternoon.
We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
A new website has recently been launched offering up to date resources for patients living within our practice area. Much of this was previously featured on our practice website, but we will now redirect to this website where relevant in order to keep you abreast of the latest info.
Topics covered include: local well-being activities, mental health support, help with smoking/drugs/alcohol, and information relating to the health professionals working in your area. We would encourage you to add the site to your favourites for future use, as it continues to develop in the coming months.
Many of you will be aware that over the past year we have been assisting with the running of a neighbouring practice, Ynysybwl Surgery, and as of July 1st 2018, the practices will formally merge. This will offer both parties greater sustainability going forward in these difficult times for General Practice. Both Ynysybwl surgery and Dr Bhat are very well thought of locally (see Google Reviews), and we feel will compliment our traditional family practice ethos.
It means that Dr Swarna Bhat who has been working as a single-handed GP in Ynysybwl will now be joining us as a Partner in Eglwysbach, and that Ynysybwl Surgery will become a branch surgery of Eglwysbach. We feel this merge offers us many potential benefits into the future for developing the practice in terms of recruitment, services offered to patients as well as increased resilience to pressures beyond our control.
During this past year of collaborative working, we do not feel there has been any negative effects on the care we offer our Eglwysbach & Tonteg patients, and please be assured, we have had the full support and backing of both the local University Health Board, as well as the Community Health Council in implementing these changes. We have also recruited a new GP, Dr Sarah Phillips, in anticipation of these changes.
If you have any queries regarding these developments, please get in touch with our Practice Manager, but rest assured we shall endeavour to continue offering the high quality service that you and your family expect.
If you receive these updates to your inbox, and would prefer to no longer receive them, then please use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of email, or alternatively, if you have any concerns regarding these issues, please contact the practice.
Having done a ‘spring-clean’ of the subscribers list, there were over 300 patients who have supplied an email address for updates, but have then never verified their email by clicking on the link provided (this email can sometimes be found in your junkmail/spam).
We have removed these patients from the register, as they were ‘inactive’; and so if you recall submitting details previously to receive news updates and yet do not receive emails, then please try again and check for the email link in order to become active on the list.
Please visit the website for our most recent newsletter on the news page, updated local activities in the patient resources section, and finally click here for a link to the 'Sheds' Project, who are currently running a survey on potential demand in the Taff Ely area (which covers our practice). Please see their website for further info about the activities and resources they offer.
Following on from previous updates, we can confirm that we will now be closing the building from 2pm for safety reasons, with more heavy snow forecast for this afternoon. We can continue to offer medical advice until 6.30pm, via our remote access to your medical records, and beyond that time and over the weekend, request that you contact Out of Hours, or NHS direct as usual.
We would like to thank all our patients for their understanding in the past few days, and would particularly like to highlight the efforts of our many staff who have walked/driven miles in the difficult conditions in order to provide continuity of care.
Finally, we will try and keep you up to date regards services next week, so watch this space, and we will continue to do the best we can.
Further to our update from earlier this morning, we are successfully managing to offer urgent medical advice to any patients who need it via telephone, so please contact the surgery on 406811 if you have any concerns.
Unfortunately Tonteg surgery remains closed, but any Tonteg patients can ring Eglwysbach where we can help with your queries.
Also, we have had notice that the following chemists are open:
Sheppards Bridge Street
We are fortunate to have admin staff who had made it in to the surgery. However, at present, it does not look likely any GPs can make it in despite multiple attempts at driving/obtaining 4x4 pickups etc. One intrepid Partner is currently hiking from Cardiff and we will update you if he manages to arrive.
But in the meantime, we are available for phone advice only. This may include provision of prescriptions but you would still need to be able to reach a chemist and we are yet to receive advice as to whether any are open.
Please call 01443 406811 if you require more information, or to have a GP ring you back for phone advice as we have access to computer systems from home.
Many apologies, but we hope you understand we are doing all that we can in this difficult situation.
Please keep an eye on the website/facebook feed for further updates through the day.
